Success Stories
We hear great stories from parents, guardians and staff or individuals served at ViaQuest Healthcare Central, and from time to time we just have to share them with you!
The Roselawn home has experienced many changes since I became a Home Manager, but perhaps the best change has been the addition of one certain individual named JeJuan. JeJuan has brought an enormous amount of energy, new ideas, and a fresh perspective to the home – his fellow roommates welcomed him with open arms, and he has adjusted to his new home quite quickly. This may not seem like a big deal, but JeJuan came from a very different living environment – namely a group home. Since his arrival at ViaQuest Healthcare Central, JeJuan has built positive relationships within his new home, found gainful employment in the vocational program at Quest for Independence, and is now saving his paychecks to buy his very own laptop computer so he can enroll in Columbus State Community College.

Jim loves his job and he is always excited to go to work every day. He does janitorial services, laundry, painting, car cleaning and more. In times before the program, Jim would rather sit home and do nothing. Consistent direction to follow his plan along with reinforcement have been a great success. Jim now goes to work on his own and is so happy to make a paycheck every two weeks.

A patient resided in Dayton, Ohio since December 2006. Prior to admission, he had a history of attempting AWOL as well as exhibited verbal/physical aggression toward staff and peers. Since he’s received training from VHC staff on appropriate behavior modification plans, social/emotional coping mechanisms, psychiatric counseling services with Dr. Johnson and medication, his behaviors have improved significantly. He is currently employed with Quest for Independence, detailing cars and painting.

Working as a direct care staff at VHC for the past five years has not only let me gain experience, but also to create a family partnership between the individuals served and myself. The job has taught me how community connection can play an important role in the social lives of the individuals served. Overall, I learned how to be more understanding, independent, and caring.

My son received A-1 care at this agency…they always let you know when something is going on with your son. Staff is always friendly and courteous and I can bring my son home to visit whenever I ask. When he’s visiting, the staff will come to the house and give my son his insulin so he can spend the weekend with me.

The staff at VHC are doing a great job with Barbara. She used to exhibit behaviors when I would take her home for visits, but lately she has been calm and well behaved. I am so impressed with the staff – they show care and understand her moods.

In 2006, I became very ill. My daughter researched the internet for homes for persons with mental disabilities. She found interest in VHC and contacted the necessary persons needed to assist us with my son’s needs. I’ve experienced nothing but open communication with the VHC team on several issues my son has encountered. I would like to give thanks to VHC for making it possible for the staff to transport my son from Dayton to Norwalk, Ohio from his start with the company. I feel that the staff are wonderful, caring people.

My son has been with VHC for quite a few years. I have experienced a few problems, but nothing serious that the company wasn’t able to resolve in a professional manner. My son tells me that he loves where he resides and works. I always tell him if he is happy, then I am happy because that’s what really matters.

My son David has been in the care of VHC for several years. Although it was a difficult decision to move him to a group home, I know that a suitable place was needed to care for him due to our age. I am happy to say that the transition went very well, especially given the fact that David had never been away from home before. He has excellent care with VHC and although his is non-verbal, seems to enjoy his new home.
